Exuberance L.O.T: After the Interview Tips
Greetings fellow leaders!
Today we will speak about what to do after the interview. The topics I will cover are how to:
As an interviewee you must close the sale. You do so by knowing how to follow up. Do not be afraid to inquire your interviewer for a set time and day to follow up in case you do not hear from them. This way the interviewer will not be alarmed if you do callback. It will also lessen any apprehension you may feel, the interviewer in return will tell you if you are able to follow up or not. If the interviewer should allow you to reach out t them, make sure you know their preferred method of contact.
Ask Do not be afraid to speak up, ask the questions. For example, " Based on this interview did you feel like I could be successful in this position?"
This will make you a more interested and stronger candidate because you prepared ahead. Do not feel alarmed if you receive positive feedback yet you do not get the job. However do not lose your rigor if you receive negative feedback. You should instead, apply the constructive criticism for a future interview.
Before you leave make sure to ask for their business card. The business card will include their direct contact information.
Thank You Letter is very important. It seals the deal! You have a twenty-four hour time limit after the interview to send it. Popular methods include:

Thank You Letter is very important. It seals the deal! You have a twenty-four hour time limit after the interview to send it. Popular methods include:
- electronic mail (e-mail)
- Hand written note
- Phone Call
* Stray away from impersonal methods such as faxes, or prolonged methods such as snail mail
Gratitude is very important when participating in an interview, it shows your true character and work ethic. Sending out a thank you letter shows your ability to follow projects through. It also exemplifies your attention to detail. This will stay in mind when choosing a candidate, since it is how you will treat future clients and partners.
Thank you letters serve another purpose, they allow you to buffer the weaker moments in your interview. Let's say he or she asked you a question you did not quite understand, well now is the time to shine! Include it in your letter,
- ex " I recall you asking me ___ and I ____. Well I remembered__".
Creative ways to garner attention is to include a link of your blog. Few candidates blog about their topic of interest at said company, or simply their area of work. This shows your creativity and innovative manner. It also displays your ability to market and distribute information. Blogging is a fast growing method used in corporate America, Public Relations and Marketing professionals among others will be pleased. Technology is a big part of success, show your versatility!
Here are two Interview Samples that me and my team, Leaders of Tomorrow did. The first is an example of a "bad" interview, while the second is an improved version. Comment your ideas on what went right and areas of improvement!
Farewell emerging leaders!

Marketing
A company once asked me to send them a video interview. This actually got me to the second interview at an internal communications position. Just an example of the ever changing new hire world.
